What was medicine like during the Civil War?
During the Civil War, conditions were very harsh for the soldiers at the battlefront. While many thought that more soldiers must have died through gunfire or cannons, 2/3 of them actually died of diseases and lack of medical care. Some of these diseases and wounds could be healed simply with medical attention, but this was not provided during the War.
